The "Boombastic" reggae star Shaggy is back at it. He recently performed his latest single "I Need Your Love" featuring Mohombi, Faydee and Costi in front of an enthused spring break crowd in Florida.

Shaggy performed "I Need Your Love" at Club Vela in Florida, via Pop Crush.  The crowd was enthused to hear Shaggy's new tune.

Shaggy's "I Need Your Love" is an upbeat song, with a video featuring Shaggy on a boat surrounded by women and occassionally holding a Jamacian flag.

In an interview this past February with the Miami New Times, Shaggy explained the contrast in lyrics from his 2000 hit "It Wasn't Me" to "I Need Your Love."

"I had a girlfriend when I wrote that song," Shaggy told the Miami New Times in reference to "It Wasn't Me." "She [his girlfriend at the time] knows I'm a big storyteller and that song is a story. It was a joke I took from Eddie Murphy's Raw. No matter what your girl says, 'It Wasn't Me.'"

Shaggy also shared what it was like growing up in a Jamaican household and the kind of music he was accustomed to hearing.

"My grandmother always had records playing," he explained. "Jamaican radio would go from Johnny Mathis to Jimmy Cliff. Her favorites were Patti Page and Mahalia Jackson."

The Jamaican artist also shared how he finds collaborators for his records.

"I do the record and let the record dictate the collaborator," he told the Miami New Times. "Most of the people I work with aren't famous. 'It Wasn't Me' had Rikrok. Of all my hits, Janet Jackson was the only big star. We did our vocals separate on 'Luv Me, Luv Me.' She wasn't even there the same time I was for the video."

Shaggy knew he wanted to work with Costi since working with him for their track "Fired Up" with Pitbull.

"I did a song with Costi, 'Fired Up' with Pitbull, and I wanted to get together again. I heard this track and thought it was wonderful. So I did some lyrics and we got a song people really like."
