Two of soul music's biggest players will receive their due this year, as Aretha Franklin and Motown founder Berry Gordy will be honored at the 2014 BET Honors, according to The Associated Press.

The annual ceremony has been running since 2008 and coincides with Black History Month. BET Honors celebrates the lives and achievements of African-Americans who have made huge impacts not just on their own culture but the nation and world as a whole. Categories for the BET Honors celebrate achievements in areas such as Literary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Service, Entertainment and Athletics.

It has yet to be announced what awards exactly Franklin and Gordy will be receiving.

Additionally, two prominent African-Americans aren't the only ones getting nods this year. They are joined by rapper/actor Ice Cube, American Express CEO Ken Chenault Carrie Mae Weems.

Past honorees include Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx and Whitney Houston.

In addition to honoring those with massive accomplishment, the annual BET Honors also feature a wide variety of musical performers, though no acts have been confirmed for the 2014 ceremony.

The 2014 BET Honors will take place on Feb. 8. They will air on BET on Feb. 24.
