Beck's long-anticipated 12th studio album Morning Phase finally has received a release date beyond the ever-vague "February." Today (Jan. 17), the alt-rocker released a teaser video for the new album and its lead single "Blue Moon" on hos official YouTube page and revealed that the Morning Phase's release date is Feb. 25.

The news of an official release date is just the latest tease that Beck has offered fans about the "spiritual successor" to his 2002 album Sea Change. Earlier this week, he announced that the track "Blue Moon" would be released in full and hit radio on Monday, Jan. 20.

Not only do "Blue Moon" and Morning Phase each have official release dates, but in the teaser video for the album, Beck's new label Capitol included a 90-second snippet of the lead single.

Entitled "Cutting Morning Phase," the debut sample of "Blue Moon" does, in fact, prove that Beck has returned to form. A plucked acoustic guitar and arrangement of atmospheric backing instruments balance out his airy vocals. The sunny track shines of Beck's earlier days, and the psychedelic influences recall The Information.

All in all, it seems like "Blue Moon" is aiming to be a win for Beck.

Morning Phase will be Beck's first new album in nearly six years. His last album Modern Guilt was released in July 2008.
