One Direction and Rory McIlroy made the rather adorable announcement last week that pop start Niall Horan would try his hand as a caddie, carrying the bags for the world's no. 1 ranked golfer during the Par 3 competition of The Masters last Wednesday. Granted, all that really requires is the vocalist carrying a bag of golf clubs, as we assume the athlete can judge for himself how far away a green is (they have signs). According to Horan, McIlroy will appear with One Direction at a later date to perform at least one song onstage. Is a permanent positiop

"That was part of the deal, if I went on the bag with him, he would come on stage and sing with us," he said. "If he's allowed to pick, the song then he's going to do it."

For those wondering, Horan also noted that he had been informed McIlroy was a "terrible" vocalist. Let's hope, for the sake of Directioners, that he and the group don't opt to include him in one of their more popular numbers.

There's no word from either party about when and where this would take place, but Billboard points out that both parties will be in the Boston area during September: One Direction will be performing at Gillette Stadium just prior to the beginning of the NFL season and the golfer will be at the Deutsche Bank Championship, held annually at the TPC Boston golf club.

Fortunately Horan didn't set much of a bar for McIlroy to live up to when he appears: The vocalist was caught on video, stumbling while he hefted the golfer's bags.

McIlroy has tried his hand at outside activities before: While he was still engaged to professional tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, she allowed her fiancé to try returning a serve from Maria Sharapova at an exhibition match during 2012.
