Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars's hit "Uptown Funk" has scored its first No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart. The upbeat track was released last November.

According to Billboard, the track held a record-breaking 14 weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Though it slipped from its No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Ronson and Mars song reached No. 1 on Adult R&B Songs, giving each artist their first No. 1 on that chart.

Mars, a Hawaii native, has had quite a successful music career. The 29-year-old left Hawaii for Los Angeles years ago to pursue a music career that he hoped would go further than his entertaining gigs on the island. In a past interview with Rap-Up, the singer explained why he took the chance on L.A.

"I accomplished a lot in Hawaii as an entertainer, but never really dabbled in original music," Mars told Rap-Up. "I was like a circus freak -- I used to sing songs, I used to open up for a Las Vegas-style magic show. I'd sing songs for all the tourists. It was always cover songs -- everything from Chuck Berry to Usher. Then I got fed up, like I'm singing songs to a bunch of tourists that don't even speak English. I felt like I could do more.

"I do miss Hawaii, though. People over there are real content and satisfied with just being on an island, having kids at a very young age. It's not like you're trying to be an actor or trying to be a musician with millions of other people, and it's just hustle, hustle, hustle. That's what I miss the most, just going down there and everyone's just living life, as opposed to grinding."

Well, Mars has certainly been grinding and the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter shows no signs of slowing down. Enjoy the feel-good video for "Uptown Funk" below.
