Love in the world of pop music is dead today: Ariana Grande and Big Sean have broken up. Today (April 20), the "Best Mistake" collaborators and very public couple announced that they quietly and amicably split several weeks ago.

In a joint statement to US Weekly, Grande and Sean confirmed that they were, in fact, done.

"They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends," their representatives said in a joint statement. "We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time."

Sources told US Weekly that there was very little drama surrounding the break up and the duo cited their busy touring and promotion schedules as the reason for their split. They reportedly found very little time to see each other over the next year and decided it was best to part ways.

Grande and Sean first started dating about eight months ago, confirming their rumored relationship in October 2014 after having a PDA-filled date at Universal Studios.

Since then, Grande and Sean have been frequent presences in each other's lives and music, with Sean appearing on her My Everything tracks "Best Mistake" and "Problem." As for his music, Grande teamed up with him for the very sensual Dark Sky Paradise track "Research."

Though an exact date of their split is unavailable, the two did seem to be dating earlier this month, when Sean said he was not jealous that Grande and Justin Bieber performed together during her The Honeymoon Tour in Miami.
