Mumford & Sons have switched up musical style, replacing the banjo with the electric guitar for its forthcoming third album Wilder Mind, but there's something else the group wishes it could change up going forward: the band name. Frontman Marcus Mumford recently expressed his regrets for including his own name in the band's title (from Consequence of Sound).

"I definitely regret the band name," he said during interview with NME. "If I'd known it was going to go this way, I would have wanted to call it anything other than my last name. It's a ball-ache. We thought about changing it, but it's a bit late now."

The group isn't the first to regret a title after finding fame: Dave Grohl has often bemoaned the Foo Fighters name.

The overhaul of image might not pertain to the band's name but it continued to the group's fashion-sense however. Although Mumford claimed the switch in music styles and choice of clothing wasn't a snap decision but a progression, he admitted the old-timey look from the group's first two albums could at times be described as a "car wreck."

"We didn't sit down and say, 'Let's wear leather guys.' Over an eight-year period you behave differently," he said. "You go to different places, you probably have different friends. You wear different clothes. We didn't hire a stylist and say, 'Let's rebrand ourselves.'"

One thing will stay old-fashioned at Mumford & Sons shows in the future, even if the clothes and banjos are being phased out. The group announced last week that it would be banning cell phones at its pre-release show, not only because they find fans waving devices annoying but to prevent unreleased tracks from getting to the rest of the world. Fans who ring devices to the May 4 show in Brighton will be able to check them in prior to the gig and pick it up afterward...just expect long lines in the process.
