Director Brett Morgen has divulged a number of clips from Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck, this time releasing new footage of the singer and his daughter, Frances Bean, on NBC's Today. Set for an HBO release on May 4, various clips have speedily circulated the Internet in anticipation.

The short video features the Nirvana front man sharing a playful and sincere moment with his daughter Frances Bean Cobain. The title Montage of Heck sparked from a mixtape that Morgen stumbled upon in storage that was a "blueprint for the movie," he said, "this is a movie told from the inside out." Morgen further explained his personal relationship with Frances and her participation in the film — she hopes to tell an honest story by using Cobain's artwork to convey his particular life message.

"It was really a tribute to Frances," he said, notes Pitchfork. "And when I met with France the first time, she shook my hand and said, 'I just met you but already I know you more than I know my father' ... And we sat down and she said, 'Listen here's the thing, everywhere I go in life, people are always saying you're dad's the greatest and he's like Santa Claus. Whatever you do, keep it real. Keep it honest. Let's tell the truth. But use the art to tell the story.'"

Prior to the latest clip, fans recieved an exclusive look at full interviews and other short segments of Cobain featured in previous documentaries. In a nearly forty-minute MTV interview, Cobain discusses music videos, stomach issues, his personal visions and his daughter — all while remaining soft-spoken and casually puffing on a cigarette. As NME notes, another quick video of Cobain imitating rival artist Chris Cornell, Soundgarden frontman quickly surfaced.

The documentary highlighting the life and death of Kurt Cobain premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, is currently playing in select theaters and will see its HBO debut on May 4.
