Just when it was starting to really look like Bravo was actively gearing up to bring back The Real Housewives of New Jersey we're now learning that it's not going to happen anytime soon, if at all. The NBC upfronts are a crucial event because it's when the network unveils its upcoming programming for next few months and introduces potential advertisers to their biggest stars. Apparently, no one from RHONJ was invited to the May 11 event, leading some to wonder if the show is going to be shelved completely or take an extended hiatus until its biggest star, Teresa Giudice, is released from prison late this year.

According to a report by Radar Online, "there are cast members from Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New York, and Orange County but no one from New Jersey cast is on the list. I think they weren't invited because The Real Housewives of New Jersey is not going to air this summer," explains the source.

Bravo has insisted that the show will return and they put out a casting call for the seventh season of RHONJ way back in January. While a few new names have been mentioned as potential new additions to the cast, no one seems to really be lighting a fire under executives to bring the show back to the small screen. Not inviting anyone at all to the upfronts to represent the show would seem to indicate that none of the current crop of housewives are guaranteed to remain in the mix, don't you think?

Perhaps it really is in Bravo's best interest to wait until Giudice is free to begin filming again. If they bring the show back without her and it tanks then Bravo could be left with a clunker that even Giudice can't fix. Is RHONJ inching towards cancellation, or are they just taking their time to make sure that they get it right when it does return? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
