It's time to get all a cappella in here! Well, not quite yet... but sometime sort of soon. Today (Jan. 30), the release date for the highly anticipated sequel to Pitch Perfect was announced. The fun-filled musical-comedy is set to hit theaters on May 15, 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to iMDB, actress Elizabeth Banks, who stars in the first film, will make her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2. Luckily for fans who may be skeptical of a second film, writer Kay Cannon, who penned the original movie, will be returning as screenwriter.

Besides an official release date, director and screenwriter, little else is known about Pitch Perfect 2.

It hasn't been confirmed whether or not any of the first film's stars, which included Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and more, will be returning. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Kendrick didn't even know whether or not she'd be in Pitch Perfect 2, though she's apparently "banging down the doors" in order to appear in the film.

And that's only rightly so for Kendrick. Pitch Perfect was a huge success at the box office and with audiences, raking in roughly $65 million in theaters and finding an even wider audience on DVD.

Moreover, the movie helped to spawn a top 10 hit for Kendrick. Her remake of a classic folk song "Cups (When I'm Gone)" rose to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
