When it comes to music, James Murphy has done it all. He has toured the world as the frontman of his now defunct group LCD Soundystem, performing at some of the largest festivals and arenas globally. He has launched his own successful DFA Records and since the dissolution of LCD Soundsystem has been a hot in demand DJ under his own name. He has been scoring films and taking on other music ventures, but until now he has remained largely out of the restaurant business. That is all changing as Murphy is gearing up to open a new wine bar in Brooklyn called the Four Horsemen.

Murphy, who has been a beer and scotch drinker for the majority of his life, had a life changing experience in 2008 in Paris where he tried some orange wine and became hooked on more radical wine choices.

This has led to his new wine bar that will feature 160 selections at the moment (growing to 350 soon) and food cooked by Chef Nick Curtola.

"There's kind of a limitless amount of things I want to do, and when the path seems to open, that's when I try to do a thing, remarked Murphy to The New York Times.

He is very well aware of the financial problems that face new restaurants.

We're not dogmatic," he said. "Like, we don't want to be part of an argument. If I opened a record store, it wouldn't be all punk rock and esoterica."

The consummate musician, Murphy paid very close attention to the acoustics of the space so it didn't sound too cavernous or get too loud to enjoy yourself.

"That's why it doesn't sound cavernous," he said. "All people will know is that they're happy. They'll not feel the unpleasantness."

The Four Horsemen will open some time in June. It will be located at 295 Grand Street in Brooklyn.
