A Palo Seco Flamenco Co. is a New York-bred institution that premieres some of the best flamenco dance and music in the five boroughs. They're keen, too, on the rising re-interest in flamenco both as an art form and as entertainment.

A Palo Seco collides universes to synergize traditional techniques with a modern, metropolitan flare. Its leader, Rebecca Tomas, has led the group down New York's alleyways and into bars all across the nation, as well as the Chicago Flamenco Festival.

The title "a palo seco" is a perfect tautology; it's a name about a name! The moniker refers to the bare-knuckle style of flamenco music--centering around singing and percussion.

APS' stripped down aesthetic is key to their performance.

So, throw on some red, down dos cervezas and move along to (Le) Poisson Rouge in the West Village.
