Steve Aoki Cancels Shows for Emergency Vocal Chord Surgery

This week has been a roller coaster week for Steve Aoki. He released his new artist album Neon Future II on Tuesday, which features collaborations with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rivers Cumo, Nervo and Linkin Park, which went into the top 20 iTunes dance charts in over a dozen countries worldwide. Today, the "Boneless" DJ had to announce that he would be canceling the rest of this month's shows because of a longstanding need to get vocal chord surgery that could not be put off any longer.

He shared the news on Facebook, explaining what has happened to him and which shows he will be missing, including three festivals in Europe and the two opening shows at his Pacha, Ibiza residency.

"I'm deeply saddened to share some terrible news with you guys. For the past 20 years, all the screaming at my shows have severely messed up my vocal chords. As a result, I have to get surgery or else I cannot even speak anymore. I've prolonged this surgery for quite some time and the doc said its now or never. Because of this, I unfortunately have to cancel some of the shows listed below in Europe. I apologize to everyone who has been waiting to see me perform. I will make it up to all of you very soon! I promise. Thanks for understanding. Love you all!"
