Less than a week after releasing a short Instagram video teaser of her new single 2013, "Baby I," Ariana Grande has released the track on iTunes. Though it was originally due out at midnight on July 22, the song was unveiled slightly early. At 11:30 p.m. the night before, Grande posted on her official Twitter that the song was released.

The track has quickly climbed the charts and as of press time, sits at No. 3 on iTunes, behind One Direction's new, highly anticipated song "Best Song Ever" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines."

"Baby I" continues to draw Mariah Carey comparisons for the "The Way" singer. Her breathy R&B vocals, with their wide range and mixture of near whispers and powerhouse strength prove that she very well could be one of the next big things in R&B. The vocal runs near the end of the track, which feature Grande going into the whistle register, are shockingly Carey-like.

The song oozes modern R&B banger, and like "The Way," Grande can likely expect this song to be a hit.

Lyrically, "Baby I" finds Grande in familiar territory. Grande has a hard time telling the man of her affections exactly how she feels and gets tongue tied, only getting so far as "Baby I..."

"Baby I" is the second single off Grande's upcoming debut solo album Yours, Truly. It is one of five confirmed tracks, alongside "Right There" featuring Big Sean and her Top 40 hit "The Way." Yours, Truly is due out in the US on Sept. 3.
