Jimi Hendrix sat down with British journalist Keith Altham just a week before his death in 1970 for what would end up being his last known interview. PBS' animated web series Blank on Blank has taken the six-minute audiotape and set it to an animated video.

In the lighthearted interview, Hendrix talks about politics and his role in creating psychedelic music. When asked about his role in that genre, he responds:

"The way I write things, the way I write is [a] clash between reality and fantasy, mostly," he says. "You have to use fantasy to show different sides of reality ... that's how it can bend. I don't really round it off too good. It's almost naked, you know? I just hate to be in one corner - I hate to be just a guitar player, or a songwriter, or a tap dancer, you know?"

The legendary musician also shared some of his unique ideas for what he believed the lifestyle of a successful person should entail.

"I want to get up in the morning, just roll over in my bed to an indoor swimming pool and swim to the breakfast table. Come up for air, get a drink of orange juice . . . Is that luxurious?"

The exact cause of Hendrix's death has been widely disputed, but he was officially declared dead in London on Sept. 18, 1970. His legacy has lived on and he remains one of the most influential rock artists of all time.

The PBS series Blank on Blank has also created animations for interviews with Carol Burnett,  Barry White, Tupac Shakur, Kurt Cobain, Ray Charles and Janis Joplin, among others.
