The release date has been set for the upcoming Daft Punk documentary airing on French TV next month. The project was announced a little more than a year ago and will air on June 24 on Canal Plus, which helped produce the film in coordination with BBC Worldwide Production France. The doc, titled Daft Punk Unchained, will be 60 minutes in length and feature some of their noted collaborators including Pharrell and Giorgio Moroder.

The film chronicles the duo's rise to worldwide stardom from its start in the 1990s. The film also has contributions from individuals who were involved with the pair very early on like Daniel Dauzerre, manager of Darlin (their first group), Pedro Winter (Busy P) and more according to DumDum. The whole journey from the duo's life within the 1990s French touch scene in Paris to Tron, Coachella and Human After All will be examined in the 60-minute film.

"We are proud to announce our first commission with Canal Plus Group on such an original and creative film," said Jean Louis Blot, topper of BBC Worldwide Productions France via Variety when the doc was originally announced. "BBC Worldwide France stands as a major French producer of documentaries with stunning production values and universal appeal."

Whether or not we will get to see Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo unmasked is not certain. The pair released its fourth album in May 2013 and subsequently picked up five Grammys that year, giving Daft Punk six in total. Despite the recent success, it has not gone on tour in close to a decade, just doing guest spots at award shows.

This is not the only film being made about Daft Punk or using its story. A film Eden, which is based on the time period that Daft Punk came up in Paris and loosely represents them has been premiered at film festivals around the world and will get its theater debut in June.
