Montell Jordan and Ross King

After his 2012 Christian album debut, Shake Heaven, the last new single from Victory World Music's Montell Jordan came out last May when "You Are" with Chris August hit the airwaves. Nine months later, the news is that he is working on a new, full-length album. With a tentative release later this year, Jordan recently kicked off the creative process with a songwriting session with fellow recording artist, songwriter and worship leader, Ross King. The two men spent time at Victory World Recording Studio, working on new songs for the project. King has written music for (and with) Jimmy Needham, Todd Agnew, Benji Cowart, Heather Williams and Justin Kintzel in the last couple of years.

Montell talked the joy of writing with King about it in a press release, saying, "Ross and I have complementary writing styles so it's really comfortable working in the studio together. I love the chemistry we have together and the stories we tell through music."

On another front, Jordan has been filming an upcoming Christian based movie called Adopted. (#adoptedthefilm) He stars as a man named Brian, a broken individual who struggles with alcoholism but wants to lead those he loves to Christ. Adopted is being produced by Fizz City Films, Directed by Georgia Tanner, with the screenplay written by Scott Pryor, the filming is scheduled to be complete in mid-February.

This looks to be a long way from his 1995 mainstream hit, "This Is How We Do It," but in truth, Montell Jordan is just "doing it" a different way now!
