As members of the entertainment media, no one is more qualified than Music Times to overreact to even the smallest hint of some major news break. Today's example is a tweet sent from rapper Drake suggesting that Lil Wayne is working on Tha Carter V.

"CARTER V," was the message from Drake, sending the message at nearly 1 a.m. Monday.

Now, obviously this message is guaranteed fact, based on the emcee using caps lock. But, in case there are still doubters, we'll look at the details behind the case.

The theoretical album Tha Carter V would be the fifth installation from Lil Wayne in the album series of the same name. Weezy is a prolific producer of new music, so a new album unto itself isn't too big a deal. The "Tha Carter" classification automatically piques more interest however. Tha Carter III is viewed by nearly all as the apex of the series, and its success lends more credibility to "Tha Carter" series. That album is viewed by scores of critics as one the best hip-hop albums of the current millennium, and has gone platinum four times. Tha Carter IV, which dropped during 2011, received much less enthusiasm however. The potential of a, again theoretical, fifth chapter would excite fans at the possibility of rejuvenating the Carter name.

Drake is a member of the Young Money label—which Wayne is the face of—so he's as likely as anyone to know something that we don't. Most news generated from the label recently has been in regard to its The Rise of An Empire, a compilation album featuring members of both Young Money and Cash Money.

If there's any break in this story, we'll let you know.
