The recent unfortunate event in which Dave Grohl tumbled off stage and broke his leg during a Foo Fighters gig in Sweden forced the band to cancel the rest of their European shows. Fans are now invited to send their sympathies and well wishes to the front man by signing a "virtual cast."

The tumble caused the Foo Fighters to scratch their Glastonbury headline slot (it was taken over by Florence and the Machine) as well as their scheduled UK stadium shows. A website titled Sign Dave's Cast was put together in order to let fans virtually send their signatures and messages. From there, certain messages will be chosen to adorn Grohl's actual plaster cast.

"When a Rock God breaks a leg, he finishes the show. When mortals sign his cast, they do it with the Internet. Sign Dave's cast on Twitter by posting with #SignDavesCast. All posts will appear on Dave's Virtual Cast. And as many as possible will be printed on an actual cast sleeve that will be sent to Dave," the website reads. The cast will eventually be printed out and shipped to Grohl himself, notes Ultimate Classic Rock. Grohl penned an open letter to the fans both worried of his condition and saddened by the cancelled dates on the Foo Fighters official website. "My doctors have advised me to lay low for a while. The most important thing now is for me to recover from the surgery, to keep my leg elevated so as to keep swelling down and prevent any infection/complication that could do long term damage. I'm not out of the woods yet, folks..."

Promoters SJM announced that fans who purchased tickets to the two cancelled Wembley dates will be refunded the total ticket price and booking fee, starting 9 a.m. on June 24, notes NME. Each transaction will be carefully and directly handled by whichever outlet fans made their purchases.
The following dates have now been cancelled:

London Wembley Stadium (June 19, 20)
Edinburgh BT Murrayfield Stadium (23)
Belgium Werchter Festivalpark (25)
Glastonbury Festival (26)
