The Libertines have made good on the promise of a new album during 2015, announcing that Anthems For Doomed Youth will drop on September 4. The band signed to Harvest Records/Virgin EMI during 2014 with the aspirations for a new record this year and it seems that the group has come through. This marks the first album in more than a decade for the rockers and, believe it or not, only the band's third album overall. Issues and disagreements caused the band to go on a lengthy hiatus following 2004's self-titled record.

Two songs have already been heard by hardcore Libertines fans, as "Gunga Din" and the title track have already been aired out in a live setting. The standard version of the album will come with an additional ten tracks, while a deluxe version will include four original tunes recorded live at Karma Sound Studios in Thailand.

Fans will also get a sense of deja vu from the album art, which was also released on Wednesday. The image features black outlines of the band members against a brighter background...almost exactly like the cover for the band's debut, Up The Bracket (although the figures were riot police in the latter). Both covers also feature "The Libertines" presented in a magazine cut-and-paste typeface, although the new release features the album title scrawled at the bottom in a different style.
