It's been a minute since the world got to see a live performance from Lady Gaga. After spending the last bit of 2013 fighting depression and battles within her inner circle, the Mother Monster finally made a return to live performances last night (Feb. 19) with a performance of ARTPOP's title track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Wearing a straight blonde wig that's nearly as tall as herself and a white two-piece spacey shorts suit, Gaga began "Artpop" at a Bauhaus-inspired white piano with a beautifully stripped down version, and the simple start showcased that her musical chops are still insane.

After the first chorus, backing musicians and the track's dance drum beats kicked in, and the fully plugged in version was funky as all get out. Eventually, Gaga descended from the piano's perch, moving around like someone artistically having a seizure.

It was a welcome return to the stage for Gaga, and it's hard to think that the song choice of ARTPOP's signature song doesn't have a deeper meaning for Gaga, who previously noted that 2014 would usher in a new era for the album.

"Artpop" is not a new single from Gaga's latest album. Several outlets have reported that she's been hard at work filming a music video for "G.U.Y." in recent weeks. No word on what happened to the planned clip and rollout of "Do What U Want."
