Captured Tracks' DIIV revealed plans for a lengthy fall tour yesterday. Set to coincide with the release of their second full length album Is the Is Are, the band's North American tour will be a dream come true for fans still swooning over 2012's Oshin.
Thankfully extensive, the Brooklyn five-piece's forthcoming tour includes multiple shows for a few lucky cities. Teaming up with Mexican Summer's No Joy and psych rockers Sunflower Bean, DIIV's onstage act will without a doubt strike a chord with listeners who are fond of lush hooks and dreamy riffs. Befittingly ending their tour with a show in NYC at Webster Hall, DIIV's live set will give fans a chance to lose themselves in the band's tongue-in-cheek lyricism and twee-meets-shoegaze orchestration.
Is the Is Are has been forecasted by the band's lead vocalist Zachary Cole Smith in an interview with DIY Magazine as "darker" than their debut album. Influenced by a number of "existential" events in Smith's life, Is the Is Are is anticipated to be as philosophic as its title might suggest. "I just didn't want to be one of those bands that has a following live but can't translate it on to a record," Smith stated in his interview with DIY. "A record is like your claim to immortality... everything else is just fleeting and temporal."
Perhaps DIIV's sophomore LP coupled with their fall tour will be the pivotal moment Smith and his bandmates have been waiting for.
