The performer behind the theme song behind Spectre, the new James Bond film, is technically a mystery but all signs seem to suggest that Radiohead is the artist in question. Although neither the band nor the studio behind the film has released any information, a bettor in the UK recently placed a huge bet on the band and that's got other bookmakers convinced.

The party in question, anonymous, put a £15,000 bet on the likelihood that Thom Yorke and company would be featured in the new film. That was enough to get oddsmaking agency William Hill to suspend betting.

"There seem to be all kinds of rumours and the plot has had more twists and turns than a classic Bond tale," a representative for William Hill said. "But surely nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch."

The odds might seem long at first, as Radiohead is often perceived as being more uptight than as to record the soundtrack for a major blockbuster. Vocalist Thom Yorke seems to be cool with Bond actor Daniel Craig, based on the discussion they had for Interview magazine during 2013.

Under Craig (or, more relevantly, under director Sam Mendes and the current iteration of the series), Bond has become a somewhat more mature, less fantastical series as it was in the past. That has meant bringing in more critically-appreciated performers to handle the themes as well. Adele won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for her theme to "Skyfall," Jack White and Alicia Keys teamed up for "Another Way to Die" on the Quantam of Solace soundtrack, and Chris Cornell did "You Know My Name" for Casino Royale.

The good news is that, despite the suspense, we won't have to wait too long to find out if the rumors are true. Mendes hinted in an interview last week that the theme song was finished and would be released soon.

Spectre is due to be released on November 6.
