Mariah Carey is the unofficial queen of Christmas, with her own radio classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You," two holiday albums and a concert series at Radio City Music Hall every December, and now the "Infinity" singer is moving into the next area of the wintery market - her own made-for-TV holiday movie on Hallmark.

Carey will direct and star in the new movie Mariah Carey's Christmas Project for the Hallmark Channel, People reports. Details surrounding the plot of the movie remain tightly under wraps, but it is confirmed to begin filming October. Mariah Carey's Christmas Project will then air two months later in December as a part of the network's countdown to Christmas Day.

Mariah Carey's Christmas Project will be Carey's directorial debut but just the latest movie in which the pop star acts in. Among other roles, Carey has acted in 2001's Glitter and she gained critical acclaim for her roles in the 2009 adaptation of Precious and her role in 2013's The Butler. This movie will be Carey's first film role since The Butler.

Carey has declared herself the queen of Christmas in recent years and is a notable fan of the biggest holiday of the year. Carey has released two holiday albums Merry Christmas in 1994 and 2010's Merry Christmas II You. In the same month that her holiday special is set to air on Hallmark, Carey will also take a break from her Las Vegas residency to perform in New York City, as has become tradition.
