For Triple J's "Like a Version" series, producer Mark Ronson once again assembled Uptown Special partners Kevin Parker of Tame Impala and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow for a groovy live cover of Queens of the Stone Age's "I Sat By the Ocean." The two jam on the electric guitar alongside Australian singer, Kirin J. Callinan, while Wyatt mans the mic.

Wyatt boasts a more soulful performance, easily described through his lyrics such as "Imagine I'd be your one and only / Instead I'm the lonely one," as the band adds layers of synth-bass and clarinet. The cover wraps up with belts of falsetto as well as psychedelic and harmonized guitars. Ronson and company also tackled the Parker-assisted track from Uptown Special, "Daffodils," NME notes. This particular version gives off a jazzier vibe than the studio version before entering a cosmic groove. Callinan heads the stage with a mesmerizing guitar solo while Parker leads with flexible falsetto.

Ronson recalls his first memory of Callinan, who was playing a wedding at the time. "He had the 19 pedals, and I was like, 'Something tells me this guy's not gonna play 'Crazy in Love.'"

Earlier in the year, Ronson detailed his latest LP to Rolling Stone, focusing on its organic cordiality. "In the past, people used technology to push music forward, like Nile Rodgers and Duran Duran messing around with vocal sampling, or Bowie and Eno using the first harmonizer to create strange sounds," he said. "Now, people use technology to make records faster and easier, to cover up shitty performances. I still record stuff to tape, and take all this time to get performances, because I think that it makes a difference. There's something in the subconscious brain that knows that's a living, breathing thing."
