Glasgow based post-rockers, Mogwai, recently employed their musical expertise to score the BBC's latest documentary Atomic - Living In Dread And Promise. It is impossible to argue that the first installment of the BBC Four Goes Nuclear series, which focuses on the forthcoming anniversary of Hiroshima, is suitably scored.

Known for their cinematic soundscapes and haunting orchestration, Mogwai's role in the documentary's production is pivotal. Possessing a sort of "end of the world" vibe, the documentary, directed by Mark Cousins, will resonate with its audience long after its final credits. The end result of this recent collaboration between the Scottish five-piece and the BBC airs this weekend.

In addition to crafting the soundtrack for Atomic, Mogwai has also been in collaboration with the Edinburgh skateboard company, Focus, for the release of collection of limited edition t-shirts and skate decks. Marking Focus' 14th anniversary as a company, the collaboration with the band stemmed from founder Sibs Roberts' fandom. "Being a fan of Mogwai's music and knowing [band guitarist] Stuart [Braithwaite]'s love of skateboarding, I suggested the idea over a number of off the cuff emails," Roberts stated for NME.

In addition to partenering with Focus and their documentary score, the band has also released their very own signature bottle of rum "Rockact81r", the follow up to their debut whiskey, "Rockact81w." Each of these projects has made it clear to fans that these native sons of Glasgow are undeniably multi-talented.

Recently celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band, Mogwai's relevance within post-punk is constant. As the world waits for updates on their next release and tour, Atomic's gripping soundtrack will keep fans from frustration.
