The government has once ignored the demands of its constituency as Barack Obama has refused to force Kanye West to release his new album, believed to be titled Swish. In all seriousness, a petition at the We The People site, which allows citizens to gather attention to causes via digital petitions, raised 100,000 signatures in support of forcing of forcing the rapper/producer to release his new album.

"Kanye West has kept us thirsty for too long," read the petition. "We haven't gotten any new singles in months. The President should order Ye to drop the album on the date August 21st, as his producer Mike Dean has been teasing people about."

President Obama, who has previously referred to Kanye West as a "jackass" for his behavior, did not release a comment on the situation, although we're sure he thought about it. The White House has since removed the petition from the site, citing its violation of the service's rules and regulations.

If Obama needs some justification for turning down the request, we're sure the Supreme Court would rule that if Dr. Dre wasn't forced to release his third album earlier (we waited 16 years for last week's Compton release), neither can West. Using that logic, West's failure to release an album just two years after dropping Yeezus doesn't seem like such a big deal.

Not to mention, what power does Obama have over West anyway? The rapper clearly explained that he was a god on his last album. As Frank Ocean might opine, what's a president to a god?

West has been inspiring people to partake in meaningless government all year. Earlier during 2015, thousands of British music fans began a petition to prevent West from headlining at this year's Glastonbury Music Festival as a result of being genre-racist and maybe regular racist too.
