The Foo Fighters make it a personal tradition to construct special experiences for each of its fans—whether it's continuing to tour after a broken leg or inviting fans onstage to jam with Dave Grohl and company, concertgoers can expect to be a part of something unique. For its latest gig in Edmonton, the Foo appropriately decided to tackle a bombastic cover of Canada's very own Rush. Instead of Grohl belting out the lyrics from atop his oxycontin-inspired throne or drummer Taylor Hawkins manning the mic, the group invited a fan named Brian to the stage to handle Geddy Lee's vocals on "Tom Sawyer."

"Welcome to my nightmare," Grohl said, after giving the fan a warning not to "f*ck it up." He relinquished the microphone to Brian, possibly handing over the confidence and charisma needed to work the stage. In the video below, Brian nails the high notes as well as anyone could've expected. Grohl's shocked and ecstatic facial expressions on the video screen said it all.

"Dude! That was f-cking amazing," Grohl said after the song wrapped up. "Holy sh*t! I don't even know...what the f*ck? What was that? Dude, are you a eunuch? How did you f*cking hit those notes?"

The Foo Fighters aren't shy about their admiration for Rush. Two years ago, Grohl inducted the group into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as he and Hawkins tackled "2112" with them during the ceremony, UltimateClassicRock reports. Later on, Grohl admitted that Neil Peart was "as influential as any religion or any hero or any person in someone's life," and that after the first time they met, he cried.

Last night marked the continuation of its North American tour, which almost saw cancellation after Grohl's tumble offstage in Sweden. The rockers will hit the road for the next two months until the tour's concluding gig in California on October 18.
