Taylor Swift has written some killer breakup anthems in her day, but she still can't quite compare to the OG bitter ex anthem, "You Oughta Know." On Monday night (Aug. 24) during a 1989 World Tour stop in Los Angeles, the "Wildest Dream" singer brought out Alanis Morissette to perform the pinnacle '90s anthem and paid tribute to the Canadian singer-songwriter in the process.

Performing her own '80s flavored pop tunes to tens of thousands of fans at the Staples Center, Swift took a break in the timeline to jump forward a bit and bring in the gritty '90s song. Before launching in to "You Oughta Know," Swift poured praise on to Morissette, crediting her honest songwriting and 20-year-old album Jagged Little Pill with influencing her own songwriting.

"This is a woman who defined the music of her decade. She inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters, who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you had. You could actually sing about your real life; you could put detail in to it. You could get really, really mad if you wanted to. And I think that it is fair to say that so many of the female singer-songwriters of my generation would not write the way we do without her music," Swift addressed, calling "You Oughta Know" the "greatest breakup song of all time."

The two then went on to kill the intense track, trading off vocal duties on the verses and coming together to blast through the chorus.

Morissette is just the latest star to grace the stage at Swift's 1989 World Tour. In recent weeks, Swift has also brought out Ryan Tedder, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony, Fetty Wap and many more.
