On the 14th anniversary of her death, Aaliyah's hit single "One in a Million" topped Billboard's Trending 140 chart.One of the late singer's most popular releases reached No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140on Tuesday (Aug. 25). The song remained in the top 10 for several hours as fans shared tributes to the late star on social media.

"One in a Million" is the title track from the singer's second studio album, which was released in 1996 by Blackground Records and Atlantic Records. The song marked Aaliyah's longest stretch at the top, leading the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for eight weeks in 1996 and 1997. Aaliyah's sophomore effort climbed to No. 2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

More recently, "One in a Million" was sampled for Tink's latest single, which bears the same name. Timbaland, who has been very protective over the use of the late singer's music, defended the remix at SXSW, saying his former protégé approved in a dream.

Aaliyah died in a plane crash in the Bahamas after the filming of her video for "Rock The Boat." According to MTV, the singer died instantly when the plane, a Cessna 402B, exploded on impact just 200 feet beyond the end of a runway at Marsh Harbour International Airport on Abaco Island. She was 22 years old.

Just a month before the crash, Aaliyah released her self-titled third album, which featured the Timbaland-produced "We Need A Resolution," "More Than A Woman," and "I Care 4 U."

In August, the producer hinted at the release of new Aaliyah music via Instagram.

"Attention!!!!! People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven't heard !!!!!well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!" he posted.

He has not yet shared the snippet.
