The Black Keys' Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach may have moved out of their Akron, Ohio, homes years ago, but the rocking hometown heroes are still giving back to the community they grew up in. For the second year in a row, the "Lonely Boy" band is sponsoring a Little League team in the AK-Rowdy.

According to The Akron Beacon Journal, for the second year in a row The Black Keys will be sponsoring the West Akron Orioles, a part of the West Akron Baseball League (WABL).

But that's not the only contribution Carney and Auerbach will be making to Akron. Starting tomorrow (March 10), the Little League T-shirts, designed by the band's creative director (and album artwork designer) Michael Carney will go on sale at theblackkeys.com and all of the band's proceeds from the jerseys will go toward the WABL as a whole.

"Dan and I played little league when we were kids before we got into music," Carney said in a statement to the ABJ. "It was a really positive hobby that kept us from sitting around watching TV. We are proud to be sponsoring WABL to hopefully offset some of the league's expenses and get more kids outside having fun," he wrote.

The league is hopeful about the impact of The Black Keys' contribution to its cause. They're hoping to be able to build a new baseball park with the proceeds from the band's T-shirt sales, which will likely don The Black Keys' moniker.
