Reality star Lauren Conrad ditched the small screen for a more simple life out of the limelight. While the perks of being on two popular MTV teen drama series, Laguna Beach and The Hills, still works in her favor today, Conrad says she's more happy being "basic." The cover girl for Cosmopolitan's October issue spilled the beans on how her life has been positively affected by being on TV and why living a more unadorned lifestyle is more speed.

The 29-year-old California native has done pretty well for herself after leaving behind the drama, ex-boyfriends, and ex-best friends that were associated with both hit series. If you've ever heard the quote, "He said, 'What's your favorite position,' I said, 'CEO.'" then you can thank Conrad for that. She stopped by Sway in the Morning for an interview and she replied to the sexually based question like the boss that she is.

"Television was just sort of an accident," Conrad said to Cosmo. "I never felt really strongly about it. But fashion is something I feel passionate about. If I hadn't done TV, I still would have ended up in the [fashion] industry, but I definitely wouldn't be in the position I am now."

If we learned anything from Conrad's stint on Laguna Beach, it's these three things: she will never reconcile her differences with Kristin Cavallari, she holds friendships to a high regard, and she has a passion for fashion. Her love for style and decor propelled her into Los Angeles, one of fashion's meccas. Conrad brought her interests to the LA's prominent Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and later obtained internships for high-profile companies like Teen Vogue and People's Revolution. Today, the California native owns a multi-million dollar fashion empire. She currently preparing to show an exclusive runway collection from her Kohl's LC Lauren Conrad line at New York Fashion Week this month.

Conrad has no regrets leaving the drama, ex-boyfriends, and ex-best friends behind as she continues to live a more sane life. She attributes her involvement with reality television as her reasoning for having such thick skin. Living in the public eye and under Hollywood's microscope can be brutal, but she's thankful the shows toughened her up and helped build the confidence needed to survive in the business.

The launch of her new line isn't the only thing Conrad is celebrating this month. September marks one year of marriage for her and husband William Tell, former guitarist and backup vocalist for Something Corporate.
