Lily Allen isn't one to shy away from controversy. Her next album, Sheezus, is to be released in May and rubbed some people the wrong way due to its obvious borrowing from Kanye West (although Allen's recently called it a tribute). She's made a litany of nasty comments aimed at everyone from pop stars Lady Gaga and Cheryl Cole to activist Bob Geldof. One fan made a nasty comment about Allen via Twitter on Monday, and in a rather surprising move, the performer agreed with his comments

"@lilyallen's new music is actually docile pop rubbish," tweeted user Reg Wilding. "So disappointing. She properly just wrote some rubbish to cash some cheques."

Wilding was referencing the three singles that have thus far been released in support of the album: "Hard Out Here," "Air Balloon" and "Our Time." Allen has also released a cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know." The performer acknowledged the new stuff has been a tad saccharine, but she blamed promoters.

"What you've heard so far yes," she said in response to Wilding. "All I can do is do my best, the labels and the radio stations won't play the better stuff."

So Allen just blamed her label and radio stations for playing the wrong songs. This is slightly disturbing coming from an artist as empowered as Allen, who takes great pride in writing her own songs. She can blame the label as much as she wants for selecting the singles, but didn't she ultimately write the song? Is she copping to only putting 75 percent effort into Sheezus?

We feel that West, the inspiration for her album's title, wouldn't choose one of his tracks over another, whether it was the stunning "New Slaves" or the more awkward "Bound 2."
