It's a big week for EDM album announcements. Skrillex was the first to the punch, revealing his previously unannounced album Recess to his fans track-by-track via an app available on his website. Afrojack might not have demonstrated that sort of flair when he came forth to declare his own debut album, Forget The World, but a name as big as his doesn't necessarily need a gimmick to make the announcement a big deal.

The Dutch DJ also gave his fans a bit more of a cushion before the album's release, announcing that it would drop on May 19. He does have a gimmick of sorts in preparing fans for the release however: Afrojack will release the album art for the record via Snapchat on March 14, and he'll also release 10-second clips of new songs every day leading up to March 30, again via Snapchat. The DJ will be among the headliners at the Ultra Music Festival on March 30, and fans will probably get to experience some more full-length tracks from Forget The World at that point.

According to Rolling Stone's numbers, Afrojack is the first performer to announce an album via Snapchat. The DJ says the move was inspired by his own use of the service.

"Basically, I think this is what artists used to have when they got fan mail; now I get it over Snapchat," he said. "I have so many people tell me, 'I love your music,' or 'I love this song.' They send me videos, like some guy and his friends going crazy over a song. It's cool to see every now and then."

There is, of course, actual music featured on Forget The World. Afrojack hasn't given a full tracklist at this point, but he did reveal some big collaborators. Wiz Khalifa will appear on a track titled "Too Wild" (a good description of either artist) and Sting will feature on "Catch Tomorrow."
