After a few years hiatus, Deerhunter has released a new music video for "Breaker" ahead of their upcoming album, Fading Frontier (their first album since 2013's Monomania). Bradford Cox can take the credit for directing, photographing and editing the video, while there is some accompanying photography work in there by Lockett Pundt. It seems the four-piece group hailing from Atlanta, Georgia is keeping it visual on this one, as the first single, "Snakeskin," has already been released in another music video from the new album.

"Breaker" has a distinct psychedelic quality to it -- one part hippie culture and two parts indie rock -- with pastel guitars and faded, see-through dots to boot! The scenes flash over the band members -- Cox, Moses Archuleta and Josh McKay face's as they reach up their hands and claw at the screen in between images of light strings, strumming guitars and drum playing with sticks! The visuals are dreamy and slightly dippy as they fade in and out, and it's all set to a soft indie rock soundtrack that is reportedly much more peaceful than their last album, Monomania.

On the differences between the two albums, Cox told Pitchfork, "This record feels to me like the first day of spring, where you go out and everybody's happy and sitting on their stoops and walking their dogs and waving to each other. It happens once a year, after a brutal winter. It's the day when you realize it's not going to be freezing forever, you're not gonna be miserable forever. It's a very special feeling."

"Breaker" also marks the first on-record duet between Pundt and Cox and their seventh studio album clearly marks the end of the palpable tensions felt between the band members in the past. They seem to have put whatever was causing issues behind them on this lighter, happier album. SPIN reported that Fading Frontier is scheduled to be released (Oct. 16) via 4AD.
