Poor Chad Channing. Even though the first notable Nirvana drummer believed he would be getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year alongside his other bandmates and Dave Grohl, it seems as though he was only mistaken.

According to Radio.com, after Channing spoke to Rock Hall blog Future Rock Legends saying he would be attending and getting inducted alongside Krist Novoselic, Kurt Cobain and Grohl, he was notified via text that he, in fact, would not.

"Can you tell whoever looks after Chad Channing that he isn't being inducted... It is just Dave, Krist and Kurt," a message from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame stated.

It seemed as though Channing's thoughts on the Rock Hall resulted from a series of misunderstandings, with Nirvana's manager Michael Meisel telling him that he has a ticket for him and that Novoselic said Channing should be there, as well. However, the Rock Hall has different plans.

The announcement comes as a bit of a slap in the face to Channing, who wasn't Nirvana's original drummer (that'd be Aaron Burckhard) but played on the band's first album Bleach and toured extensively with Cobain and Novoselic before Nevermind. In fact, it's Channing and Bleach that even allowed for Nirvana to be inducted in 2014.

The exclusion of Chad Channing isn't the only controversy surrounding the induction ceremony this year. KISS has refused to perform at the ceremony, after it was announced that only the band's original lineup would be inducted.
