Cathriona White, Jim Carrey's on-again-off-again girlfriend, was pronounced dead at the age of 28 following a suspected suicide. White left behind cryptic messages on her personal Twitter account, possibly hinting at her final days. In the wake of her death, her actor ex wrote a heartfelt letter expressing his feelings towards her unfortunate death.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call at White's Sherman Oaks, California home on Monday (Sept. 28), where they discovered her body. TMZ sources revealed pills were found next to her body, leaving authorities to believe she died from a possible drug overdose.

White left behind a note addressed to the 53-year-old actor, noting their Sept. 24 breakup. She posted her last tweet on Thursday (Sept. 24) reading, "Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest." The tweet was followed by sentiments of peace and love for everyone.

Two friends reportedly found White after going to her house to check up on her on Monday night. White was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m., Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told People.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Carrey told Us Weekly in his statement. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

White worked in the beauty industry, notably doing makeup work for Divergent star Lyndie Greenwood and David HasselHoff. Her talent has lead her to style celebrities for magazine photo shoots and movie premieres.

Carrey and White first met back in 2012 and recently rekindled their relationship this May. The two were reportedly "having a great time," according to Us Weekly.

Carrey's last Twitter message features a photo of himself in New York's Grand Central Station, which was taken by White.

White's death won't officially be determined until an autopsy is conducted. Her cause of death will be released once a full toxicology is completed and test results come back.
