Reports are stating that NBA player Matt Barnes attacked Knicks Coach Derek Fisher after learning of his involvement with his ex-wife, Basketball Wives star Gloria Govan.
According to New York Post, Matt Barnes "went crazy" after learning that his estranged wife and former teammate when playing for the Lakers, were enjoying an evening together at her L.A. home amongst friends. According to the site's sources, Barnes drove 95 miles from Santa Barbara, headed straight to the L.A. home where he and the reality star once lived together, and "beat the sh*t" out of Fisher.
The New York Post, which reportedly spoke to a source who was at the home when the fight occured, stated that Fisher and Govan were outside in the backyard, with about ten additional guests, enjoying a bonfire when Barnes arrived. Reportedly, Barnes got out of the car and "went after" Fisher. The two men began to fight, leaving Fisher with scratches and Barnes leaving the scene before the police arrived.
Barnes has openly admitted that he will always care about Govan as she is still his "homie" and the mother of his children. TMZ reported that the former couple have twin 6-year-old boys together and he will always love her. They were married in 2012 and separated in 2014.
Gloria Govan is the sister of Laura Govan, who was also featured on the VH1 reality show, Basketball Wives. Since leaving the show Govan says that life has been pretty crazy and busy for her. She and her twin boys all have clothing lines that will be coming out soon and she's also working on landing some acting roles. In an interview with VLAD TV Govan explained where she is in her relationship with Barnes:
"Matt and I were together for 8 years," she explained. "I think the course of our relationship is kind of just due to just evolution...but we're always going to be good friends, obviously we have kids together. That's what's most important."
She says she doesn't believe that her divorce has anything to do with where here career or life is at this point.
