Already dealing with with its fair share of legal issues, Jimi Hendrix's estate is now threatening a $1 million lawsuit in order to retrieve one of the legend's gutiars--an acoustic Black Widow.

The guitar's current owner, Harvey Moltz, explained that he had no idea there was an issue with the instrument upon original purchase. Hendrix's estate, Experience Hendrix LLC, filed a complaint earlier in the month, which asks an Arizona Superior Court judge to take matters into the hands of the law.

Moltz, the owner of a Tuscon guitar shop called Rainbow Guitars, plans to argue that he bought the acoustic Black Widow back in June of 2014 completely within the law. The attorney for Hendrix's estate, Ed McPherson, labeled the instrument as worth between $750,000 and $1 million, UltimateClassicRock notes. However, the Hendrix family's concerns are beyond money as the CEO of Experience Hendrix, Jimi's adopted sister Janie Hendrix, explains.

"The guitar is priceless to our family," Janie told the The Arizona Daily Star. "It is one of the few guitars that came home after Jimi passed away. We just want our guitar returned safely and back where it belongs."

Before the debacle concerning Moltz, the guitar had allegedly been purchased from Janie Hendrix's ex-husband, former Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist Sheldon Reynolds. McPherson points the finger at Reynolds, stating that he stole the guitar.

"My client purchased the guitar in good faith from a private seller, without knowledge of competing claims of ownership," Todd Jackson, the attorney representing Moltz, argued.

Meanwhile, a concert film titled Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church is due out on October 30, boasting rare performances by the guitarist at the July 4, 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival. Teaser clips have already circulated the Internet including a live performance of fan-favorite track, "Purple Haze."
