Last December, “Hot N*ggas” rapper Bobby Shmurda ( Ackquille Pollard) and the whole GS9 Crew were arrested and brought up on a plethora of serious charges. Almost a year later, Epic Records label exec L.A. Reid explains why he never bailed Bobby Shmurda out, even though he was one of the most promising new stars on his roster. In addition to Reid not putting up the $2 million dollars to bond the rapper out of Rikers, the news continues to be bad for Pollard. The judge presiding over his case recently denied his bail once again, and it appears he will be staying put until his Feb 22nd trial date.

Back in December, Pollard and rap crew were charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the third degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (intent to sell and possession of narcotics).

Then there were the additional charges he acquired after Rikers guards found contraband on him, in the form of a makeshift shank.

Initially when everything hit the fan, it was made public knowledge that Reid along with Epic Records would be fronting the $2 million dollars to post the rapper’s bail. 10 months into Pollard’s stint in jail, Reid finally discloses why the bail was never posted.

In a Rap Radar podcast Reid shared, “People don’t know anything about my business. It’s really not their business. That’s the truth about it, right? We’re not elected officials here, and we’re not at liberty to disclose how we do business. It’s fair practice. I can tell you that.” Bobby Shmurda is not the same as Snoop Dogg and ‘Murder Was the Case,’ who’s coming off The Chronic and [Doggystyle].“It’s a different era, you know? And we’re a publicly held corporation. We just aren’t in the same position we were in back in those days so it’s a different day.

We're guessing that's another way to say Pollard hadn't built up enough clout or generated enough sales for the label to shell out the dollars, especially being that the rapper looks like he is in for a long road ahead.
