Saturday (Oct. 17) was Guwop Day, commemorating Gucci Mane's 1017 Bricksquad label and iLoveMakonnen took it upon himself to pay homage to the incarcerated rapper with a new track titled "Big Gucci."

Over Richie Souf production, Makonnen raps about trapping, his unparalleled Cali green and his admiration for the Trap God in his signature unorthodox flow. The song's cover art features Makonnen’s trademark doll head with Gucci’s infamous ice cream cone tattoo on its cheek.

"My n*ggas still trappin' hard making plays in the South / And they can't wait til Big Gucci get out," he rhymes on the chorus.

Gucci Mane has been behind bars for the past two years on federal gun charges. Back in June, reports hit the net indicating that Gucci would complete his bid and would be released on July 11. His lawyer, Drew Findling, shot down speculation, telling MTV News that the update was not true.

"We do not know where that rumor came from, so that's just Internet and social media fabrication," Findling said. "We have no idea where that release date came from because we're still in the midst of resolving things with the Bureau of Prisons. There was some confusion on their part, about his release date."

Makonnen, on the other hand, is prepping the release of his forthcoming album. In August, he sent out a tweet hinting at an October release. The album was originally slated to drop during the summer. Earlier in the year, the OVO Sound signee released his latest mixtape, Drink More Water 5, which features guest spots from Gucci Mane, Migos and Rich The Kid.

Prior to DMW5, Makonnen re-released his self-titled EP after signing to Drake's imprint. Drizzy announced the deal after remixing Makonnen's internet hit, "Tuesday."
