Ben Carson has gotten himself in hot water quite a few times during his presidential campaign. While many voters in the Republican base welcome his blunt opinions, others are offended by his apparent Islamaphobia, insensitivity regarding the Holocaust, and his comparison of Obamacare to slavery. Adding to the cannon of controversial comments, Carson told Meet The Press he "would love to see the Supreme Court overturn Roe V. Wade." The full interview covers a range of topics, including Carson's past comments and policy ideas.

In response to criticism from Donald Trump, Carson replied "Everyone has their own personality...and I'm not gonna get in the mud-pit."

Ben Carson also told interviewer Chuck Todd that there was a time when the neurosurgeon was "very volatile." The Doctor said as a teenager, he would "go after people with rocks and bricks and bats" and told Mr. Todd that he tried to stab someone at the age of 14.

Some may argue that this period has yet to cease, considering the onslaught of controversial statements and demagoguery. As Salon reports, the range and depth of Carson's penchant for controversy has had plenty of longevity throughout his career. The neurosurgeon said "Gayness must be a choice, because prisoners who are raped come out gay." He also opined that "Planned Parenthood is a plot to kill black babies." Further, speaking on the steps of the Arkansas Capitol in Little Rock this summer, Carson tackled the idea that Conservative Americans are waging a war on women, saying: "They tell you that there's a war on women. There is no war on women. There may be a war on what's inside of women, but there is no war on women in this country."

Comments like these seem to be gaining remarkable traction among presidential hopefuls like Donald Trump, and present a concern for many voters who feel the candidate's statements are hateful and misinformed.
