"You always have to put a face on as a manager when you get beat and anyone who knows me knows I don't take getting beaten very well at all," he said in an interview. "Sometimes you wish you could get the boots back on and go and kick a few people to get some frustration out. You want that reaction and to see that heart and passion you would expect as a fan. When things become difficult as a player, and I never managed to play at this level as a player, but the teams I was in the lads tended to look towards me and lean on me because I was more an influential player rather than a good player. I had that grit and determination to get you through these type of situations."
