The Internet can be an ugly place, especially when posting a picture of your child. Solange Knowles learned that the hard way. The singer posted a picture of her 11-year-old son on Instagram, according to the Huffington Post, and was entirely taken aback when a user commented that the child was "ugly" and his mother a "fake celebrity." This kind of criticism, or trolling, is nothing new on the Internet, however, it often applies to the adult celebrities themselves, and not their children. Solange was understandable infuriated, and responded to the misguided Instagram user.

According to Us Magazine, in a post that has since been deleted from her Instagram, Solange said, "Just as I thought it was safe to share pictures again, a young'n like you decides to use her time to spread ugliness. I don't fault you, I can only imagine why you would feel the need to say such things, but thanks again for being a reminder that out of all the love and wonderful energy shared, that when I open up a space for an innocent beautiful being like my boy to be criticized and judged, that I WILL most likely respond, and that he receives enough love and celebration at home that it's just not worth it to go down this road. I hope that this really resonates with you and you make better decisions in the future towards how you use your words towards innocent children. And @ro.rdx get ya friend because this could have truly gone south if I was in the wrong mood." [sic]

While clearly incredibly incensed, Solange remained classy, calm, and respectful in her response. She tried to empathize with the user who decided to say such terrible things about her child, and illustrated a substantial growth in maturity from more acrimonious antics in her past.
