The Indianapolis Colts' star quarterback, Andrew Luck, is set to miss between two to six weeks of the current 2015 NFL season, due to a lacerated kidney suffered late in the fourth quarter of this Sunday's important victory over the Denver Broncos. Backup QB Matt Hasselbeck, who is 40 years old, will step into the leading position this month. According to head coach Chuck Pagano, the team has great trust in Hasselbeck and will take Luck's injury in stride. What does this injury news mean for the Colts' chances of making the playoffs and how will this affect Fantasy Football owners? Read more below.

UPROXX points out that Keenan Allen of the San Diego Chargers suffered the same injury, which ended his season this year. Fortunately for Luck, his laceration won't require surgery, so the two to six weeks off should be sufficient for recovery.

"It's way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out," Pagano said in a new press release regarding the injury, according to the team's official website. "We're going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We've got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we're not going to put Andrew back out there until he's healed and ready to go."

According to numerous sports outlets including ESPN and NFL.com, the Colts have good chances of making the 2015 playoffs, even without the top QB.

While Luck was most likely a top Fantasy draft QB pick this year, we suggest you take a look at some streaming options, unless you have a solid backup. Plus, Hasselbeck might be an option in week ten!
