Three months after its impressive box office debut, its been announced that the unrated director’s cut of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton will be released to own in January.

According to HipHopWired, Compton will be released on digital HD on Jan. 5, 2016. The Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand versions of the film are scheduled to be released January 19. The new version of the film will include deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes look at the group’s infamous Detroit performance, as well as commentary from director F. Gary Gray.

The re-release of Compton will also be accompanied by two music projects: Straight Outta Compton: The Soundtrack and Straight Outta Compton: Original Motion Picture Score. The former will feature remastered versions of N.W.A songs “Express Yourself” and “Quiet On Tha Set,” while the latter will include music composed and conducted by Joseph Trapanese. Both projects are set to be released on Jan. 8 with Straight Outta Compton: The Soundtrack also being pressed as a 2-LP vinyl set.

In August, Compton topped the box office and surpassed previously reported debut projections by a long shot, better than doubling the original expected take.

Compton, which depicts Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella during their rise to stardom in the late 1980s and early 1990s, debuted to $56.1 million its first weekend. Aside from the group’s strides in the music world, the film centers on themes of racial tension, poverty and police brutality as well.

"The movie tapped into something in our culture and that made it more of a must-see," Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at BoxOffice.com, said.

Thanks to its success, Compton became the highest-grossing film by a Black director in cinematic history. As previously reported, the biopic brought in an estimated $157.5 million in the U.S. and Canada, edging out Keenen Ivory Wayans, whose classic Scary Movie film pulled in $157 million back in 2000, and Tim Story, who earned $154.6 with Fantastic Four in 2005.
