It's no secret that 5 Seconds of Summer really, really love Green Day. And now, the "She's Kinda Hot" band have brought that live to the live arena, covering the pop-punk band's signature single "American Idiot" while on Howard Stern's Sirius XM Radio show.

5SOS stopped by Stern's studios a few weeks ago, following the release of their latest album Sounds Good, Feels Good. In addition to talking about everything from their sex lives to their start as a band in Australia, 5 Seconds of Summer's Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford played a few songs, including "American Idiot." Now, official audio and video of that performance has been released online.

This take on "American Idiot" plays close to the song's original arrangement, with Clifford kicking off with vocal duties and adding in a bit of a Billy Joe Armstrong-esque snarl. Of course, 5 Seconds of Summer add in a bit of harmonizing (they are all four vocalists, after all) adding a bit of texture to the single.

The Stern appearance isn't the first time that 5 Seconds of Summer released a cover of "American Idiot." The song has been a longtime part of the band's repertoire. Most notably, 5SOS covered the song in June 2014 for a compilation album Kerrang! Magazine did to celebrate American Idiot's 15th anniversary.

As for their own music, 5 Seconds of Summer's new album Sounds Good, Feels Good was released last month. The album has been successful for the band, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
