Everton manager Roberto Martinez opened up to the press about the world of football ahead of the game today.
"It is such an incredible block of fixtures right now," the coach said. "At the start of the season you get periods of a lot of football then the international breaks. We have gone through this international break with real feelings of satisfaction because we haven't picked up any injuries and the group look very strong. We are now facing a period of 19 Premier League games and obviously involved in three competitions, with the League Cup and the start of the FA Cup before the next international break."
Meanwhile, Villa's new manager, Remi Garde, spoke about his players headed into the game.
"I don't see players who don't care about the situation or didn't believe in themselves," he explained. "I know it's going to be very, very difficult. When you build a house you don't start with the roof, you start with the base and that's what I'm trying to do."
