Chris Rock may have found himself in a bit of a dilemma since splitting from his estranged wife, Malaak, and filing for divorce. The two found themselves determining custody arrangements for their two daughters that didn't include another young girl, Ntombi, who had been living in the home with the Rock family since she was an infant. Rock hasn't seen Ntombi since he split from his wife, and now the country where she came from has opened an investigation as to how she ended up in America and living with the Rocks in the first place.
Ntombi was born in South Africa and was brought to the United States by Malaak, where she lived with Rock and his family since she was 6 months old. According to TMZ, Rock has not seen the little girl since he and Malaak separated, although he has been in communication and contact with his biological daughters. According to the site, South African officials have launched an investigation to determine how and why Ntombi was living in this country.
According to one of Rock's representatives, the story is quite bizarre and is still unfolding. TMZ cited the rep stating Rock has not been in contact with Ntombi, nor is he taking responsibility for her because he never officially or legally adopted her. In fact, according to the site, Rock is blaming it all on his estranged wife.
There is no clear understanding at this time as to what happened or how Malaak managed to have little Ntombi remain in her care, and even enrolled her in a New Jersey school without being legal guardians or custodians of the child. Ntombi's biological parents were reportedly unemployed South Africans at the time she moved from the country to the U.S. with Malaak.
The Why Did I Get Married actor filed for divorce in 2014 and requested shared legal custody of his two biological daughters, 12-year-old Lola and 10-year-old Zahra. The comedian says his estranged wife was trying to keep him from seeing them since filing. Ntombi, who is now 7 years old, was not listed in the custody arrangement, although she has taken several family photos with the Rocks over the past years as a part of their family according to NY Daily News.
