For decades people have questioned things like "the secret to success" and "the secret to life," seeking advice in hopes of somehow improving their time on this Earth. Well, one of Hollywood's biggest names believes he has the answer to another unnerving problem. Actor Will Smith recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his marriage to wife Jada Pinkett, revealing how they were able to keep their relationship thriving for 20 years, even through the "excruciating" times.

When it comes sustaining a long-lasting relationship in Hollywood, some might say it can't be done and adding marriage to the equation only strengthens the "curse." For some couples however, divorce just isn't an option.

“We've been married 20 years and we've been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting," Will said to ET. "You can’t expect it to be easy, it’s like our marriage was the most difficult, grueling, excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives. And you know were just not quitters.”

Will first began dating Jada in 1995 after divorcing his first wife, Sheree Zampino, that same year. They exchanged vows during their 1997 wedding and share two children together: 17-year-old Jaden Christopher Syre and 15-year-old Willow Camille Reign. Will also has a 23-year-old son from his previous marriage named Trey.

The Concussion star admitted sharing a life with someone isn't always the easiest task. Describing his marriage as both "difficult" and "grueling," Will refused to walk away during the hard times. Instead, the couple reevaluated themselves in an effort to keep the love alive.

“If there is a secret I would say is that we never went into working in our relationship,” the 47-year-old actor said. “We only ever worked on ourselves individually, and then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously.”

Last year, Jada also shared some relationship advice and revealed a secret to keeping a successful relationship: forgiveness. The 44-year-old actress received the tip from a friend who's been married 24 years.

Despite all the major breakups and divorces that have happened this year alone, Will and Jada prove that love is still worth fighting for in Hollywood and they're not planning on taking a break any time soon.
